I needed a way to support my OCD with regard to fasteners storage in the workshop. I decided not to use the little metal parts organizers cabinets like I do at my workbench, because the shop fasteners are bigger and I have a lot more of each size. So I decided to use Akro-Mils 20416 Replacement Drawers I could order from Amazon and just build the cabinets. Later I’ll make my own drawers out of wood.
As usual, this is version 1.0, and there were a lot of problems with it. The biggest problem is that for some reason I cut the rear panel and the vertical dividers 1/4 inch too short, so the lowest row openings are not tall enough to accept the drawers without modifying them a little. Bummer. There are some other issues. But I learned a lot and v2.0 will be much better (and take a lot less time to construct).
Eventually I will trim the front with face frames of walnut or some other pretty hardwood. It’s hanging on a big French cleat for now. I plan to stack a couple of these on my miter station, once it’s built.
