Made this 18 years ago for my brother in laws birthday, he actually re stained the piece with darker stain, not my choice, I like the original clear oil stain,
I love how that woodgrain pops. the tiles are Granite,
It is all cedar, poured cement mixture to the top and I inlay little dragonflies and fish with pebbles,
That was before I built my pond, my love for Dragonflies started from a childhood in Greece,
Photo is scanned from film camera.

I have never seen this fruit before, yesterday for the first time I saw it at my Brother in laws home,
Took the photo on the barbecue cart I made for his birthday 17 years ago, I liked the way it came out and how well the mosaic held together outdoors.
Please see the original from 2 scans,

This is a new Axe and Shield that I have just completed. (I haven’t done one of these for 7 years now) The Axe handle is Oak with a leather grip and copper wire wrapping. The head and inlays are metal powder filled resin. When polished these have the real weight and feel of metal. The shield is stained plywood and has cast resin plates. Oh yes… its strictly for display purposes only!
Axe length 22", shield diameter 22".
PS it says to the right that this pic was taken on a Canon EOS 50 D. It wasn’t I’m afraid, I borrowed a background image from my dad that was taken on one and attached my image onto it with Corel Photo Paint.

This I made for my son 10 years ago, Taken with my old P&S Nikon.
All the material used here are recycled from other projects,
The base is pice of a marble fireplace Greek marble from Tinos,
The Angel fish is carved from figured maple, the eye inlay is Tagua nut "vegetable ivory" and Ebony, those pebbles at the base are from a beach polished by hand,
Final is the root that holds the fish, was a Lilac root that was dying when we bought the house in 1985,
Yes I am a hoarder of all interesting things that appeal to me:-)

Inspired by the designs of Pasadena architects Charles and Henry Greene, the craftsman contractors led by Scandinavian woodworkers John and Peter Hall cut, turned, joined, carved, and hand-rubbed 17 species of wood into the house and furnishings considered one of the greatest achievements in American architecture and craftsmanship.
