The Image Adjustment Lab and New Histogram in Corel Photo Paint X4

The Image Adjustment Lab is an area within PHOTO-PAINT that allows you to make global changes, correcting the color and tones of most images quickly and easily. Before using the Image Adjustment Lab, it’s best to do any cropping or retouching beforehand.

Also, if you have any masking to do, it’s a good idea to do that beforehand as well. Since the Image Adjustment Lab will make global corrections to your images, masking off the areas that you don’t want to be color corrected is important. My suggestion is to take only the areas that you want corrected and copy those sections as separate Objects (layers).

Features

Some of the features of the Image Adjustment Lab allow you to:

  • Look at a before and after preview of the section you’re working on.
  • Create an Auto Adjustment (which is often a correct color balance or very close to it the first time you use it).
  • Set a White and Black Point.
  • Make global corrections such as Temperature, Tint, Saturation, Brightness, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows and Midtones.
  • NEW: The Real-Time Histogram allows you to edit images with greater accuracy. The histogram lets you know if the highlights or shadows will be clipped and it also shows you if the dynamic range has been expanded too much (which may create a posterizing effect). It’s recommended that you use the automatic features first. If they don’t give you the result you’re after, then you can start experimenting with the various sliders.
  • Use the Create Snapshot feature to take snapshots of your work in progress. These are displayed below the working image, allowing you to keep track of your adjustments. If, for any reason, you don’t like the changes, you can click on a previous snapshot to restore the color balance or you can access the Click to Reset button to start over from the beginning. These features make it relatively easy to manipulate images, but it’s easy to get caught up in the features and lose track of what you’re doing. I recommend that you keep a notebook handy when working on images (especially when working on a complex project) and take note of the settings. These will come in handy when you work on a new project with similar issues.

To access the Image Adjustment Lab, go to the main toolbar and click on Adjust: Image Adjustment Lab. This brings up the Image Adjustment Lab dialog box.

The Controls

At the top of the dialog box are a number of tools which govern navigating your way around the dialog box.

  • These are the Rotation tools, the Pan tool, the Zoom tools (zoom in/out, fit in window (F4) and display image at normal size) and the Preview Modes.
  • On the right hand side are the automatic and manual controls which are organized in a workflow order for image correction. Essentially, you start in the upper right hand corner and work your way down. These sliders (which include the option for numeric entry include: Auto-adjust, Temperature, Tint, Saturation, Brightness, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows and Midtones.
  • The Auto adjust button is often the only tool you’ll need. It corrects the lightest and darkest areas and adjusts the tonal range in each channel.
  • The White/Black point automatically adjusts the contrast in the image. The black/white eyedroppers also create some tonal neutrality in the image and aren’t just for setting the white/black points.
  • The Temperature slider corrects the color casts by “warming” or “cooling” the color casts in the image. This allows you to compensate for lighting issues at the time the photography was taken.
  • The Tint slider governs the green and magenta in an image and is the control you would use after the Temperature slider to fine-tune the image.
  • The Saturation slider controls how vivid your colors are. Moving the slider to the right increases the effect while moving it to the left decreases the effect.
  • The Brightness slider controls the overall brightness or darkness of an image.
  • The Contrast slider contros the difference in tone between the light and dark areas of an image. Use of this control can mute colors or increase image detail.
  • The Highlights slider controls the brightness in the lightest areas of the image. Here, you would also use the Midtones and Shadows sliders to fine-tune the image. Of the next two controls the Shadows slider lets you adjust the brightness in the darkest parts of the image, while the Midtones slider controls the brightness in the midrange tones of an image.
  • Directly below these controls are the Real-Time Histogram, the Hints pane and the Create Snapshot button. As mentioned earlier, the histogram lets you know if the highlights or shadows will be clipped and it also shows you if the dynamic range has been expanded too much (which may create a posterizing effect).
  • The Hints pane gives you information about each slider and gives information about how to use them. To see the corresponding hint for a given slider, hover your mouse above the slider and the information will appear.
  • Below is the Create Snapshot button. This is used to preserve details of the changes you make as you go through the process of correcting an image. Each snapshot contains the detials of your changes. Clicking on Create Snapshot creates a thumbnail beginning on the lower left of your images. These allow you to revert to an earlier stage of image correction in case you don’t like what you’ve done currently.
  • Immediately after that are the Undo/Redo and Reset to Original controls which appear on the lower left of the dialog box. You can use these buttons to Undo/Redo parts of your image, or click on the Reset to Original button to reset your image to the beginning of your corrections.

Ideally you’ll want to take care of light/color correction issues on location, but that isn’t always possible.

Does Tiger Balm Cure Nail Fungus?

The fungus “Candida” is present in all our bodies.

Under certain circumstances, it can become rooted in different locations or organs, spreading as if it were an “infection”. This infection is made visible through the presence of “white” discharge or some other infected material (in the case of the toes, a yellowing of the nail).

Candidiasis is the “infection” state of the fungus – affecting everything from dandruff to having vaginal candida discharge.

Whilst nothing wrong from a purely health perspective, the underlying condition is often unsightly, and can lead to further complications if not treated.

Most pertinently, the infection will likely not go on its own. This means if you have Athlete’s foot (another form of Candidiasis), or some other Candida-based infection, you’ll typically have to work hard yourself on cleaning it up.

Solutions are actually quite bountiful… “Tiger Balm” (a more powerful Vicks Vapour Rub) being one of them.

Firstly, the important thing to note is that there are two types of Candidal infection. You can either get a growth on the surface of the skin, or it can be embedded inside the skin. The type you have determines the remedy.

Secondly, ALL Candida responds in the same way to the various remedies. The only difference lies in accessing the root cause of the problem. If you have an embedded infection, it will typically require direct access through the surface layer of skin (hence why the likes of laser treatment is used for Toenail fungus).

The point is that if you’re able to access the infection (it’s either on the surface of the skin or close), you can apply active ingredient straight to it. In the case of the “cottage cheese” type substance for most fungal infections, this means you can apply the likes of anti-dandruff shampoo, yoghurt or “Vicks Vapour Rub” to essentially kill off the fungal spores. This will be quick and painless.

If you have an embedded infection (heels / toenails / vagina), you need to be careful with what you end up doing. Specifically, if the infection is under the surface of the skin, you have to remove the top layer in order to hit the fungus directly. This is where the likes of Tiger Balm comes in.

Tiger Balm is nothing special. It’s just a more powerful Vicks Vapour Rub without the Eucalyptus. The most important thing is that it’s potent. Really potent. And it hurts.

The cream basically tricks the brain into “numbing” the pain receptors on your body. It creates an “ice heat” – GREAT for muscle injuries, but basically means that you should expect some discomfort from using it (look up Tiger Balm on YouTube for more info).

To this end, if you want to get rid of a Toe nail infection with it, you first need to be able to get rid of the surface layer of the nail. This is best done by filing, or can be done by applying a cream to soften the nail before trying to pick off all the infected layers on the top.

Once you’ve removed the “crusty” layer of the nail, you should then be using the likes of Tiger Balm to kill off the infection directly. Again, this may hurt but you need to be absolutely stoic in its application – put it all over the nail so it will get rid of it entirely. If it works, the new nail that forms should be entirely “fungus free”.

Pay Per Click Marketing – All That You Need

Before getting into the details, let’s discuss a short myth; Ignis fatuus. Is it true, that 1000 views make a dollar on YouTube? The answer to this simple question is No. There is no virtual connection between the amount of money and the number of views you get on YouTube. However, a greater number of views will help you in sponsorship, YouTube partnership and earnings through third party payroll ads. There is no such hypothesis which tends to resolve this conflict of the straight dependence of the number of views and the estimated revenue (I know the low CPM on your AdSense account is bothering you, but that too is a rough estimate). Before understanding how to make more money on YouTube, we need to know the basics of pay-per-click (PPC) marketing.

Caution: Geek stuff ahead, proceed with your brains!

PPC is a marketing strategy employed to drive more traffic to your website inorganically (the opposite of it is SEO).

This knowledge includes paying money to the search engines to display your website on the search engine’s Web page. Since around 51. 2% of the total web, searches occur over Google; we will get into the in depths of Google marketing.

You have made a website, and you wish to advertise on it, and you pay Google a substantial share, that’s it and Bravo your website is at the top of the search results!Sounds too simple right, but wait, there are thousands of other sites offering their content which may be similar or even better than yours. The question arises “How does Google rank them?”. Well the first criteria is an easy guess Money, the more it is, the higher is the rankings. Apart from this Google believes in providing quality content, as it simply won’t ruin its reputation showing unrelated and underdeveloped websites only to gain few bucks and to act on the people’s faith. The things get a bit more complicated when the Google AdWords auction comes into play, apart from the bidding procedure, Google takes into consideration PPC campaigns, supportive backlinks, less competitive long tail keywords and how well optimised the site is.

The ad rankings are devised Based on these factors. You might be asking what has it got to do with my videos. Remember poor ad rankings mean higher CPC rates (that’s what we want!!) There are two ways how ad companies pay Google, first is the Cost per view (CPV) : according to the number of times an ad is seen on the video the payments are made to the creator. The ad companies are looking for, the sales of their products and what they want is to get the user through their landing page rather than only being viewed from the outside (which perhaps may evoke interest but to a lesser extent) this endorsement strategy is a bit outdated and suffers from lower revenues for your YouTube videos.

The second one is my personal favourite (the ad companies love it too) the cost per click (CPC) technique, the only problem being the higher pay rates (good for us!). The AdWords auction has a bidding on keywords which are relevant to ad companies, while some keywords may be competitive some are a little cared about for example the keywords over insurance, home mortgage and finance are insanely competitive, and the highest of the bids go there. What you want is to choose a suitable title, description and even subtitles to employ these keywords in your videos. The search engines have spiders and bots to identify them from the rest of the videos and help you rank higher.

Remember quality content is a necessity in YouTube as the audience retention time is a critical factor in rankings. Use catchy custom thumbnails and headlines.

Headlines are where your head lies. If you were to ask a copywriter how essential a headline is, he would say that he spends 90% of his time rewriting headlines. So how should you write the first one? First of all, I want you to ask these three questions to you;

One why would the people be willing to click on your video?

Two what would hold them until the end?

Three why would they even care to like or subscribe?

The answer to the first question is self-interest. Why did you click on my article”Get 10, 000$ per month on YouTube” simple because it promotes one of your self-interest, information that concerns about you is something that is important for you (you can’t miss getting 10, 000$!). These considerations are what you have to take in mind while uploading videos: make the viewers reluctant to click on them.

Having learnt how important a headline is now you have to optimise your description, here are some rules:

Make sure the keywords used in the title are taken multiple times (Just don’t be intrusive, keep it natural and gimmicking stuff) include these keywords in your tags too. (Choose at least 5 to 10 cards) and your channel description must assure that you specialise in providing that particular content (search bots will read it is leading to increased authority for you: better search rankings).

Provide a hyperlink at the beginning of description: it just acts as a backlink for your videos improving searchability.

If you are truly a lazy bum then the last option would be taking the help of a freelancer, there are numerous websites (freelancer, fiverr and up work to name a few) that would do your job at best prices possible.

You mentioned using highly paid keywords I saw “Mesothelioma law firm” has the highest cost per click (117$) can I make a video on that and earn huge money?

I wish it could have been that simple. However, it isn’t likely the way so. The nature of the ads depends on the content of your video, and the CPC rates rely on the viewership this means you are never going to get the same 117$ paying ad flashing on your video (it’s alliterative but likely not). Since mesothelioma is a disease, low CPC rate healthcare and law firm agencies ads might pop up in your video, barely making any difference in your revenues.

What if I start to click on the ads shown in my video? If not can I make a fake account and click on my ads?

The answer to the first question is a clear no Google has strict rules against it, and such type of action can permanently block your AdSense account. The second question is somewhat acceptable you can get paid by clicking on your ads through a fake account, for a beginner after 45% deduction in CPC rates he gets 3 to 6 cents on an average for getting to the 100$ threshold you can do the math.

2. Observe your own viewing habits, what captures your attention? Do a peer review of videos in line with your business – what did you like about the videos, what did they do well? How often do they post? How long are the videos? What could they have done better?

3. The first introduction to your video that your prospect will see is your thumbnail, so make it visually appealing and include text.

4. Even before your thumbnail is how they found you in the first place, so optimize your description and title for SEO and tag your video with relevant keywords.

5. Your video, although short, should have structure, start with create a story as a part of your video to keep your prospects engaged. Think of your video like a funnel, drawing your prospect further in.

6. A pitch is inevitable, but don’t make that the intent of the video, give your prospects a tip that they can use right away.

7. Always include a call to action – this can be subtle in your video, but also in your description.

8. Don’t make it your goal to go viral, make it your goal to provide informational content.

9. Keep it fun, but not too edgy (unless that’s your market), if you are going to go viral, you don’t want to go viral for the wrong reasons.

10. Don’t be afraid to include subtitles for those who watch without sound. Many people who are at work, or scrolling through their feed without headphones, will typically watch but not listen to videos.

And one bonus tip: Video marketing takes time – more time than you realize! Invest in editing software, and expect that you’ll be spending a few hours editing, creating the thumbnail, and perfecting the description.
