This is a rocking horse that I made for a family friend. They recently had their first child, and I promised them a rocking horse to celebrate.
The horse, mane/tail, saddle, and rockers are made from poplar (stained red mahogany for the body, natural for the other parts). The handle is turned from maple that was harvested from a tree that fell during Hurricane Ike.
The horse received 3 coats of polyurethane varnish with a top coat of paste wax. The rockers received 3 coats of tung oil.
