A solid oak shooting board for squaring and truing ends using a plane (Stanley No. 6 shown).
The plane runs along the lower section, which is parallel to the upper board. The stop is 90 degrees to the plane face and allows the ends of small boards to be planed true. It also prevents ‘spelching’, where the end breaks out.
Most examples of these are made from MDF etc. I personally wouldn’t use such materials, preferring instead to work with beautiful tools and in an inspiring creative environment. Hence an oak shooting board.
If you are interested in me making one of these for you please do get in touch.
