I have a pair of these tiny treasures. There is this late winter/early spring scene and one of a red roofed chalet in the mountains in the summer. I inherited them from a distant relative and I love them. They’re made completely of wood and the house, church and snow bank are carved separately and glued to the painted plywood. (That’s why it throws such a shadow.).
I’m thinking that this folk art was made in the 1940’s. I’ve seen a picture of my relatives shortly after their wedding and this was hanging on the wall. I often wonder if her brother-in-law made them since he was quite a woodworker but I don’t think I’ll ever know for sure.
HMM.
