Starting to have an issue of starting multiple projects and not being able to finish them…. Well the basket is soaking again (not very well) and I’m trying to get the sides to bend upwards without cracking, and that takes an overnight soak at the minimum. My buddy welded some stuff onto the trailer for the boat and that should be done by Thursday since I have an appointment to get the boat inspected. While doing other projects around, I decided what better way to make sure I can get everything I need accomplished than to actually turn our shed into a woodshop like we’ve been talking about doing. So here is the work bench. It’s 10 feet by 23 7/8 inches. Why 23 7/8"? Because I’m cheap and don’t want to have to buy multiple boards. One 4×8 sheet cut to "24 inches" will leave one at 23 7/8 and then a straight router bit to flush that baby up.
This workbench is actually going to be pretty nice I think when its done. Definitely going to have some woodworking friends who will want to come check it out. The overall area I had to work with was 15′ 5" x ~36". That’s the space I figured up with having to share space in the shed with the mowers and whatnot. So with this bench the size it is, I’ll have more than enough room to stand in front of the bench and also have room at the end of it for the router table and the table saw. One thing I am really proud of is the coincidence of where this bench will end and that it will allow me to mount our little bandsaw on the table and have room to actually cut stuff. Other things to be mounted are the chopsaw and drillpress.
Only problem left is the bolts to secure those 3 tools down and the $50 hardwood plywood to use for the bench top…oh and the legs to cut, but that’s maybe $8 worth of 2x4s. Off to the junk yard tomorrow to get stuff to fix up the truck. Flickr seems to be becoming my picture diary…
