5 Causes of Borborygmi

What is Borborygmi?

Borborygmi can be thought of as stomach growling, a gurgling stomach, loud digestion noises or simply put – noises that emanate from the stomach.

Borborygmi is the sound of undigested carbohydrates within the digestive track, or gut. As the digestive system breaks these carbohydrates down a lot of gas and wind is created and as such causes a lot of noise, discomfort and embarrassment. Some people create more wind and noise than others but the cause is always the same.

It is very unlikely that you would experience this condition if you were to eat a higher protein, higher fat, low sugar and low carbohydrate diet. In recent studies fructose has also shown to be a major contributor toward this condition which occurs in many high sugar fruits and table sugar (refined sugars).

Some stomach noise (borborygmi) is natural and occurs in everyone, but some people experience severe cases of it which can be embarrassing, painful, frustrating and difficult to prevent. In order to prevent this condition we need to know what causes it. This article is focuses on the main causes of borborygmi, why it happens and hopefully this article will help people avoid these ‘triggers’ which will help their condition.

Top 5 Causes of Borborygmi

  1. High Fibre Grains: Foods such as grain, oat, wheat and rye majorly contribute to borborygmi. Foods such as bread, porridge and cereal are very common causes of loud stomach noise. These are not ‘natural’ foods (when compared to meat, veg, fruit, nuts and seeds) and so it is more difficult for the body to break down and as such causes a lot of wind and noise
  2. Fructose / Sugar: Fructose plays a big part in borborygmi, as does sugar. Fructose is found in many fruits. Removing high sugar fruits from your diet can greatly reduce this condition. The best fruits to remove are apples, oranges, grapes and any tinned fruit. Despite being associated with a healthy diet natural or concentrated fruit juices should also be removed.
  3. Beans: Beans and Legumes have shown to cause borborygmil Beans in particular are big gas causing foods. Remove these from your diet and see if there is any improvement in your stomach noise.
  4. Unbalanced Diet: This is a major factor in borborygmi. What is your current diet like? You may think that it is perfectly fine and well balanced but try writing a food diary and I believe you will be shocked. Try only eating protein and vegetables at meals and not mixing your fats, and carbohydrates. Are you eating processed foods or bread? Are you eating junk food more often than you should?
  5. Milk: Dairy products are a big cause of this condition also. This does not apply to everyone (it personally didn’t apply to me but I know many people that it did) but it is worth reducing your intake of milk in particular. How much coffee are you drinking, can you reduce your milk intake this way?

To sum up: try and eat as natural as possible, make sure that you know what is going into your body. Take a look at my article called Common Causes Of Borbroygmi for a more thorough write up of this article. If you reduce these 5 key factors from your diet you can begin to see the benefit.

Apple Watch 3: Time For a New Calling

It’s time for some wrist talking. Apple has rolled out its new line of Series 3 watches complete with cellular capability.

The new smartwatches are now on sale, just in the nick of time for holiday shopping.

Apple Watch fans will find the Series 3 is the full replacement for the Apple Watch 2. It features many upgrades including the ability to make calls from your wrist.

The watch enables cell calling on all major carriers in the U.S. The device supports both data and voice and uses the same number as your iPhone.

Calls do come at a price, it will add about $10 per month to your existing wireless fee, but imagine the fun and options of conversing like comic detective Dick Tracy.

Apple’s new W2 wireless chip helps make the calls work. It switches between Bluetooth, Wi-Fi networks and the watch itself always searching for your iPhone first.

Calls can be dialed directly with the keypad on the watch, or by tapping an existing contact. Actual message writing is limited to scribbling letters, tapping emoji, or dictation.

You can also have a voice conversation with Siri. She is no longer limited to just on-screen text responses. Engaging Siri without an iPhone nearby though can be troublesome.

While the watch is designed to free you up from your phone it does require your iPhone to help with setup and app installation. Calling will not work with Android phones.

Most use the Apple Watch as a fitness tracker. New with the Series 3 is an on-watch extra sensor barometric altimeter with GPS. The built-in GPS records the distance, speed and route of your outdoor workouts.

The altimeter tracks elevation during your hilliest rides and highest climbs. It is also “ocean proof” and safe at 50 meters.

Heart rate monitoring has been improved. More graphs are listed for all-day averages in resting heart rate and walking heart rate. Other graphs and averages for workouts are listed as well much like Samsung’s Gear watches fitness offerings.

Workouts are easier to start and stop, or switch on the fly. Runs can be auto-paused. Music controls show up in workouts with a quick swipe, and music playlists can be set to go automatically.

Those who wish to listen to music to accompany their workout will find improved synchronization with the WatchOS 4 operating system. Playlists can be added when the watch is charging. Most songs can be downloaded from your iTunes library.

Like most newer Apple products wireless headphones are required to enjoy the audio. AirPods are a good pairing for the watch.

While the Apple Series 3 has added capabilities it is not a full replacement for the iPhone. Responding to emails and messages is not easy and there is no camera. Your phone is still needed to set everything up and for adding apps and other information.

Battery life can be an issue. Due to limitations phone calls can be severely curtailed as can GPS-aided workouts. Costs for wireless service and Apple music add to the expense.

Users of Apple Watch 2 will find little difference in appearance between the old and new devices. The 3 features a red dot on the crown the 2 does not. Size is about the same. You can use your older bands associated with the previous models.

The cellular version of the Series 3 will run around $400. A stainless steel model will run near $600 and then there are the more luxurious Hermes and ceramic edition models priced at over $1,200.

Apple keeps improving its smartwatch offerings. While not revolutionary the Series 3 is first to offer cell capability with improved fitness applications. The tech giant is hoping consumers will find that now is the right time to purchase one.

4 Of the Best Beaches in Bali

Best Beach for Snorkelling

Because most of the beaches on the island of Bali have such incredible surf and waves, this does not make them ideal for snorkelling. However, if you travel to the east of the island to Padangbai, you will find three beaches with paradise white sand and calm, clear waters. This quiet sleepy fishing village doesn’t attract so many visitors, meaning the beaches are often quiet and peaceful. Bloo Lagoon beach, located near the Bloo Lagoon eco-resort just over the hill to the left, has the best snorkelling, with calm clear waters, scattered rocks and coral. Amongst the sea life you can expect to see Napolean Wrasse, reef sharks, stonefish, moray, rays, squid, octopus and blue ribbon eels. There is also a beautiful, secluded white sand beach over the hill to the right of the town, which is lined with palm trees and is the closest thing to a tropical island paradise.

Best Beach for People Watching

If you’re looking for a beach full of beautiful people, with plenty of bars and restaurants and activities going on, then Seminyak is the beach for you. Whilst the long sandy beach isn’t as idyllic as some of the others on the island, it is great for people watching, attracting hundreds of tourists looking for fun in the sun. Seminyak’s beach is an extension of Kuta Beach and is a long stretch of flat, compact sand with rolling waves perfect for learning to surf or having a go on a boogie board. You can lie back on a sun lounger with a Bintang or if you’re feeling a bit more energetic, play a game of bat and ball. Seminyak’s beach has one of the best views of the sunset, so if you can afford the price tag, have a cocktail and watch the sun go down from Ku De Ta, Bali’s world-famous bar.

Best Beach for Ultimate Relaxation

Few backpackers have heard of this beach, but Balangan, down in the south of the island past Jimbaran, is one of the ultimate for relaxing and letting your cares fade away. This sandy beach is lined with palm trees and is also a great spot for skilled surfers, with glassy waves rolling in over the coral reef. You can relax on a sun lounger in front of one of the beach shacks with a banana milkshake and a view of the surf, or go for a swim in one of the many natural rock pools. As the tide goes out you can go for a wander over the reef to get a closer view of the surfers in action. Balangan is a peaceful, tropical beach which will make you feel like you’re a million miles away from reality.

Best Beach for Experienced Surfers

Uluwatu, at the southern tip of Bali, is famous for its temple perched dramatically on the cliffs. Tourists flock to Uluwatu to see the band of monkeys that run around the temple complex, and to witness the traditional dance performance at sunset. But Uluwatu is also the most famous spot in Bali for experienced surfers, offering perfect waves during high season when the swell is good. Pantai Suluban is sheltered by steep cliffs, so on a windy day it’s perfect if you want to avoid getting sand in your eyes. Set in the cliffs are several warungs serving traditional Indonesian food like Nasi Goreng and banana pancakes, as well as a couple of ding repair shops and shops selling surf wear. Sit and enjoy the incredible views with a spot of lunch or climb down the steep steps to the shingle beach where you’ll find cool caves and rock pools.

How Can I Build My Email List With Genuine Prospects?

The one essential element to the success and growth of your online business is an email list. This list is a collection of people who have indicated an interest in your business and have given you their agreement to email them more information.

Email marketing is still one of the most effective forms of marketing. However, if you’re sending generic information out to random subscribers you’ll see little benefit. Today, smart marketers build targeted lists, full of genuine prospects who want to receive a specific message.

So how can you build your email list with more genuine prospects?

Plan In Advance

Effective email list building starts with attracting the right people to the right list. Identity your target audience and create customer profiles so that can help you build a list full of subscribers who want to hear from you. Then be clear on how you can provide them with value.

Offer Something Valuable And Specific For Free

To encourage your target audience to provide you with their email address, provide them with something of value for free. When creating your freebie, focus on a precise target audience. You want to give them something that genuinely adds value to their lives and even fixes one of their main problems. Make the offer so specific that only people who are supposed to be on your list will want to sign up for it.

Send Your Freebie Straight Away

Don’t make a new subscriber wait for information you promised. Ensure that your email autoresponder software is set up to deliver your freebie as soon as somebody signs up.

Make It Simple To Sign Up

Steer clear of asking for too much information in advance. At most, request a name and email address. You can make it even easier by only obtaining an email address. You can always get more information from a subscriber when they’ve signed up to your list.

Secure Their Privacy

Make sure your subscribers know that you will not give or sell their information to any other companies. You can put a privacy notice on your sign up form by adding a hyperlink to it.

Don’t Forget Your Other Channels

Let your subscribers know the other places that they can find you on the internet. This will increase trust as they get to know you and your brand outside of the email inbox. Make it easy for them to connect with your social media channels, blog, YouTube channels, etc.

Buckwheat Noodles

Serves 3

Buckwheat flour is gluten-free which makes it a good choice for anybody with gluten sensitivities or celiac disease. Buckwheat is not a cereal grain but it is actually a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb and sorrel. It is packed with nutrients and has a nice nutty flavour. Buckwheat also has a low Glycemic index. Diets that contain buckwheat have been linked to lowered risk of developing high blood pressure and this is due in part to its rich supply of flavonoids, particularly rutin that includes the catechins of green tea and the polyphenols of red wine, is not found in other grains or beans, but is contained in great quantity in buckwheat.

The key to their powerful cancer-fighting potential is precisely their wholeness of the buckwheat as supplements containing rutin only is not as effective. Flavonoids are phytonutrients that protect against disease by extending the action of vitamin C and acting as antioxidants. Buckwheat also contains almost 86 milligrams of magnesium in a one-cup serving. Magnesium relaxes blood vessels, improving blood flow and nutrient delivery while lowering blood pressure; the perfect combination for a healthy cardiovascular system. Buckwheat is also high in insoluble fiber (4.5 grams/cup) which can help women avoid gallstones. Researchers think insoluble fiber not only speeds the time food moves through the intestines, but reduces the secretion of bile acids (as excessive amounts contribute to gallstone formation), increases insulin sensitivity and lowers blood fats.

Soba noodles are native Japanese noodles made of buckwheat flour. Like pasta, soba noodles are available in dried form in supermarkets, but they taste best if freshly made by hand from buckwheat flour and water. The traditional Tokyo-style soba noodles have a ratio of 8 parts buckwheat to 2 parts wheat flour. The recipe below tells you how to make the noodles but you can buy the dried form from the supermarket as long as you ensure these are buckwheat noodles without any additional preservatives. The noodles are easy to make once you’ve made then a couple of times. If you have kids of ages 4 or above, this is a great weekend chore to do with them. Once made these noodles can kept in the fridge for a couple of days, as long as during the making process you dust generously with buckwheat flour to prevent sticking and keep it in an air tight container.

So, go on then, have a trip to Japan!

Ingredients to make homemade noodles:

230 grams/ 8 oz. buckwheat flour

60 grams/ 2 oz. whole wheat flour

1/2 tsp. unrefined salt

6 fluid oz. of water

Ingredients for finished dish:

Homemade stock made from chicken, fish or prawns or pieces of chicken, fish or prawns

1 tbsp. sesame oil

1 tbsp Japanese soy sauce

Unrefined salt to taste

Shredded lettuce, prepare this only when dish is almost ready to be served to preserve the Vitamin C content

Sift both flours and salt into a mixing bowl. Pass your hands on the surface to break it and then gradually add the water until the right consistence is achieved. Create a paste with your fingers as you gradually form a sticky ball incorporating all the flour. Unlike wheat, buckwheat readily takes in water. The aim of this step is to make a complete mixture within just 10 seconds (or as quickly as possible!). Work the flour into a ball. Divide into 3 equal portions (one serving each portion). Work with once portion at a time. Cover the other two portions with a lightly damp cloth or wrap up in a cling film to prevent it from drying out.

Dust with a very generous amount of finely ground buckwheat flour and flatten the dough with a rolling pin to approximately 1.5- 2 mm thickness. Dust with more finely ground buckwheat flour to prevent sticking and place it in a pasta making machine to obtain the ribbon/spaghetti noodles. The settings on the pasta machine should be No.1 (thickest) for the thickness of the dough; there is no need to place the dough several times through the machine, just once to obtain an even thickness.

If you don’t have a pasta making machine, do not divide the dough but you will need to work the dough to stretch as much as possible. Then roll out to the required thickness as above, dust generously with fine buckwheat flour, fold dough over a couple of times, then cut noodles with a sharp knife to approximately 1.3 mm width. This is more tedious so investing in a pasta making machine is preferable!

It’s very important to boil a large amount of water per serving. The boiling time depends on the noodle thickness. To cook the regular thickness of soba, you’ll need about one and a half minutes. And if the soba is thicker then you’ll need to cook longer. Make sure the noodles are cooked completely, not al dente as Italian pasta. If the noodles aren’t boiled for long enough, they will be too hard to eat. Do not worry if the noodles have begun to stick together before cooking. Place the noodles in the water without separating them apart; they will loosen in the water. Scoop up the cooked noodles with a strainer, and set the noodles down briefly in a bowl of cold water to stop the cooking process.

Drain the noodles well and return to a pot with a little added homemade stock made from chicken, fish or prawns. These noodles can be served with chicken, fish or prawns. In this instance, boil the chicken or fish in a small amount of water (do not overcook; meat will become too hard), add the drained noodles. Add some sesame oil, Japanese soy sauce and unrefined salt (if required). Remove from pan and add some shredded lettuce and slices of red chillies if desired. Serve hot.

These noodles can also be served with any other sauce dish, for instance fish curry! Amazingly delicious!

Some not-so-discriminate individuals have even come to claim that all chicken pies taste the same, despite the fact that there are thousands of varieties of chicken pie recipes that you can find on the Internet.

2 small carrots }

4 large flat mushrooms (remove the stalks)

Ingredients for the Pastry:

225g/8oz ready-made puff pastry

flour, for dusting

1 free-range egg, beaten

1) Preheat your oven to 200C or 400F or Gas 6.

2) With the use of a boning knife, cut off the legs and wings from the chicken and set aside. Carefully carve off the breasts. Drizzle the breasts with a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Tightly wrap the chicken breasts in plastic cling wrap and set aside.

3) Arrange your chicken legs on a roasting tin and drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Roast the legs for 30 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through (poke the thickest part of the leg with a fork or skewer to see if the juices run clear). Baste the chicken as often as necessary while cooking.

3) Unwrap the chicken breasts from plastic cling film. Poach the breasts for 20 minutes (or until cooked through) in a pan of simmering water. Carefully shred the meat inside a bowl and set it aside.

4) Let your Madeira and chicken stock in your small pan simmer for a few minutes before adding the chicken wings. Cook the wings for 20 minutes, or until it is cooked through. Set the wings aside, but keep your cooking stock on reserve.

5) Cook the sauce by heating butter and 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a pan. Gently fry the carrots, celery, leek and shallot for 4-5 minutes, or until the vegetables begin to soften. Add the garlic and mushrooms together with your remaining oil and gently fry for another 4 to 5 minutes. Pour in the wine and simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated. Stir in cream. Put in your shredded chicken leg meat.

6) Arrange your flat mushrooms over a baking sheet and spoon the mushroom sauce on top.

7) For the pastry, start by rolling out with a rolling pin the puff pastry on a floured surface. With the use of a pastry cutter, stamp out circles in the same size as the flat mushrooms that you have arranged on your baking sheet. Place the pastry on a separate baking sheet. Prick the surface with a fork or skewer. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg. Bake this together with the filled mushrooms for 8 to 10 minutes, or until it has risen well and turned golden brown.

8) To serve, cut the chicken breast into thick slices with a knife. Remove all the bones from the chicken wings. Sit the mushrooms on a serving plate. Arrange a pastry circle on top and at an angle. Lay the chicken breast and wing meats alongside. Reheat the reserve chicken stock and Madeira sauce and drizzle over the plate. Garnish the pie with fresh thyme. Serve with creamed potatoes.

1 cooked bacon strip, crumbled

Cook the pasta according to the package directions and drain.

Meanwhile, in a small greased non-stick skillet, saute the onion and garlic until tender and set aside.

In a small saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour until smooth; gradually add milk.

Bring to a boil; cooks and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thickened.

Stir in 1 cup of cheese until melted.
